Happy Birthday :devart:!

:star: We all had a reason to join :devart:. For me, it was because I found inspiration from other, more advanced artists, which gave me the motivation to share my own art with the world. I joined back in 2006, back when I could still only draw on paper, but looking at how far I've come since I first joined, I'm proud of the progress I've made and if it wasn't for the artist I made a tribute to in this particular piece I made, who knows where I would be today? :)

:star: One of the things I like most about :devart: is that it shows that imagination is limitless. In the art world, it's no question that if you can imagine it, you can create anything you set your mind to. There are so many talented artists in different mediums here that have shown that they can think outside the box and create something new. I love art that makes me say "Why didn't I think of that?"

:star: Though I'm mainly interested in cartoons, anthropomorphic, and fan-art,there are some other forms of art that I also appreciate. One of :devart:'s greatest qualities is that there are no restrictions to what kind of art you can post. We have artists who make cosplay, metalwork, paintings, digital art, there's always something new to see. I like to find art that really speaks to me, even if it's not one of the above, mentioned forms. After all, who doesn't like variety?

:star: We are all at a certain level. Some of us can create master pieces, some of us can hardly draw at all. No matter what kind of art you make or where you currently are, :devart: is a great resource to find artists to serve as role-models. When you find an artist you admire, you want to learn more about them, what they do, and how they do it. Some successful artists even link their :devart: account to other outlets in which they share their work, like video tutorials or their own websites, which gives you great networking options to put yourself out there. This gives you a little insight to what these artists have done to make names for themselves and when you have someone you look up to, it gives you something to strive for and someone to learn from. However, I think it's worth noting to be wary of the difference between wanting "to be just like them" and "to be them."

:star: As people, we all have our own philosophies and as artists, freedom of expression is a must. No matter what type of art you do, it's worth while to express your own principles and beliefs in your work. Throughout my time in :devart:, I've grown to develop my own philosophies, as well as adopt the philosophies of others. Some artists who have expressed their Oscar Wilde-esque beliefs have made the website's front page because so many others have taken what they say to heart. Being an artist is a constant learning process, not just in skill, but also as a person.
Here are a few philosophies I developed since I joined :devart:

:bulletblue:"The only ones who fail are the ones who give up."

:bulletblue:"To call a piece of art a 'rip-off' of something else is to call all art a 'rip-off ' of everything."

:bulletblue: "Wanting to be him is not the same as wanting to be just like him."

This makes a lot of sense!
I like deviantArt too for its accessibility. Everyone of all levels can show what they create and how they progress. It's also one of the only places where I feel comfortable to show the creatures I come with haha!
By the way, I feel flattered to see one of my pieces here, many thanks!~
