ASK FOR ONE AND IT WILL BE IGNORED!!!
A couple of things that have been on my mind recently. I feel like I should be making more of an effort to get my art noticed and hopefully grab the attention of potential-collaborators and get involved in projects. I've been looking towards broadening my artistic horizons more, not in terms of technique or drawing, but more along the lines of learning new software and the self-promotion aspects of it, trying not to suck as much at it.
I've been thinkin about doing a weekly Saturday/Sunday Night stream. Now, I never actually watched a stream, but I know what it is; basically, you log on to a streaming website and people watch you as you work on your artistic projects. I've never been comfortable with the idea of people watching me draw, judging me. It almost feels like somebody hovering over my shoulder, which is a peeve of mine. On the other hand, it could be taken not as judgement, but more of constructive criticism to improve on technique and such. Weekend nights are pretty much the only time I can really do something this because of my job; I work nights when everyone else is home.
Another thing that I know of, even though it hasn't been around that long. I've seen a lot of artists post that they have their own page for it. This one does seem like more of a stretch though. I don't really know what I can offer that people would want. I've been open for commissions for the past few months and am still barely even getting any. That, and I don't know how much time I can really invest in something like that. I still have to work full-time at a job I don't even like just to make ends meat, which takes up over half my day...Plus, I don't think I really fully-established my niche yet. Sure, I spent the last couple of years drawing mostly MLP-art, but now I'm shifting focus more on Furry Art to challenge my own creativity a little more. All things considered, maybe I'm not ready for this just yet, maybe in another year or two before I actually attempt to start a Patreon.
So I'd like to hear what you guys think about both of these.
|I've been drawing for as long as I can remember and I've always loved it. My main interest in art would have to be cartoons. Some people may see cartoons as mere means of childish entertainment, but I believe that cartoons are as legitimate as any other art-form. They have the power to make us laugh, feel, and think, just like any other form of art. My love for cartoons has also contributed to my interest in furry art. Lately, I've been drawing fanart of my favorite videogames and other media, but I hope to make my own webcomic with my own characters and become like the artists I idolize. I also enjoy video-games including Sonic the Hedgehog and Kingdom Hearts. I'm currently in college, working towards getting a Bachelor's degree and hopefully will be able to land a career as a animator, cartoonist, or freelance artist. I still have a lot to learn even as an adult.|
